The Metrolina Model Railroaders club (MMRR) is a 100% National Model Railroad Association (NMRA) member club. If you are not already an NMRA member, joining us will create a membership for you at the NMRA too. Our club is part of the Carolina Southern Division (CSD) of the NMRA and likewise all club members are therefore CSD members too.
MMRR is an adult model railroaders club and individual memberships are offered to persons aged 18 years and older. Younger members aged 6 thru 17 can join but must be sponsored and chaperoned at all times by their adult sponsor who must also be a member.
Member participation includes numerous meetups throughout the year with a minimum frequency at the rate of 4 times per month. Occasional long-distance travel and overnight stays may be involved. Sometimes we carpool to meetings and events. Ultimately, each member is responsible for their means of transportation. We often dine socially at restaurants on days of meetings and events. Event participation is always optional and voluntary. Event duties are shared among the volunteers that participate. We ask that all members attending events and operating trains participate in the duties of preparing, maintaining or closing the layout for the event.
Membership fees are due annually. Meetings are held either at event locations or at the sites/homes of volunteer member hosts.
Use our contact us page to submit your interest in becoming a Metrolina Model Railroader — all skill levels are welcome. Additionally, we encourage everyone interested in model railroading and living within Gaston, Lincoln, Mecklenburg or York counties to join us as model railroading as a member is much more enjoyable than building, operating or playing with trains on your own. After all, this is The World’s Greatest Hobby.
