Metrolina Model Railroaders is a train club with its roots in Belmont, North Carolina. The majority of its members are located within the greater Gaston, Mecklenburg, and York counties. The club is officially organized as a Limited Liability Corporation and has been in operation for over 30 years. It is not a legal non-profit tax-exempt organization. Physical donations should be made by arrangement. You may complete the form below to indicate your interest in donating, and we will contact you to make arrangements. We can always use Nickel Silver Atlas & Peco code 100 tracks, scenery building materials, clear Plexiglass, light weight woods such as Luan (Lauan) plywood, styrene model plastics, HO scale locomotives and rolling stock, N scale locomotives and passenger cars, and N scale Kato tracks. Persons exiting the hobby or downsizing may gain peace of mind knowing that their donations are going to an organization that can use them or redistribute them to members that build, operate and maintain model railroad layouts. Additionally, if you inherited some trains that you do not wish to keep, we accept those as well.

Over the years, our membership has benefited from active Tax Accountants and retired IRS Agents. Together, they agree on the following with regards to the subject of Tax-Deductible Contributions:

The Metrolina Model Railroaders Club is not a recognized charitable organization by the IRS so unfortunately any donations to the club are not tax-deductible.  With the new higher standard deductions on tax returns these days it is likely that a donation to our club, even if tax-deductible, would have no impact on your tax return but it would have a big impact on our club and we would be honored and appreciative of any and all donations, small or large.

DONATED ITEMS – Honorable Mentions …

We wish to thank everyone for their donations over the years. We have received some wonderful Train donations. The following people have asked us to mention their donations. So, with great pleasure and appreciation, we would heartily like to thank the following people for the train donations:

Tom W of Shelby, NC made a huge donation on behalf of his friend, Richard Greene. Richard Greene and his wife were killed as a result of an automobile accident in Boiling Springs, NC. The Greene’s daughter gave the trains to Mr. Tom, and he graciously donated them to the Metrolina Model Railroaders’ club (MMRR) around September 2025.

Jack W. of Charlotte, NC had a very nice train collection. He decided to downsize as he enters the prime age of his life. He provided the MMRR club with most of his collection in 3 parts after giving some to his grandson. We received the bulk of Mr. Jack’s donations in November 2025. The picture of the train was provided by Jack. A club member photographed the layouts after they were dismantled and received by MMRR.
