The first ever Gastonia Train Show will be a 2-Day event held on June 30th thru July 1st, 2018. The NC Rail-Strava-Ganza is the name of the event and is being put together by Matt Bumgardner of the Tarheel Press and the Alexander Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society (NRHS). This event is fun for the entire family especially for railfans, train enthusiasts, model railroaders, and railroad hobbyists.
Matt has been putting on successful train shows in Hickory, NC for many years. The last one was held in April earlier this year (see video at end of this page). The Gastonia Train Show should be similar to the one held in Hickory. Now Matt is putting together a show that is much closer to Charlotte, NC. On the last day of June and first day of July, beat the heat, indulge your hobby, support the railroader in your family and come see the model trains and train memorabilia available during this show. Vendors will be on hand providing train sets, accessories, books, DVD’s, papers, photos, and just about everything you can think of regarding railroads.
Currently, the MMRR club layout is on display at the North Carolina Transportation Museum so it will not be at this show. However, several of our members will be in attendence and some of our members will actually be participating as vendors during this Gastonia train show event, plus other members will be there buying until their hearts are content.
If you have never been to a Train Show, now is the time to check you first one out. Bring your significant other and your children. Whether young or old, you’ll find something fascinating at this train show. There will be antiques, popular stuff and even some of the most recently released train items on the market today.
The official train show flyer is displayed below. Links in the paragraph below the flyer will assist you in getting directions directly to the location. Gastonia and Belmont have hotels and motels conveniently located nearby for those needing a place to stay overnight.
